It’s raining. Not the expected tropical rain for Brisbane. A dreary wetness permeating everything. The school across the road awash, trees dripping. Birds quietly waiting under the cover of the canopy — wet, but not as wet as the outside. A variety of green, each branch trying to outdo the next with a shade of it’s own, but all blending into a single coloured rainbow. Light to dark, green to green. The wires interrupt the view, cutting across and along. One lonely rubbish bin for commercial waste, and a glimpse of the school pool — morosely waiting for the warmth of term four to be bought back to life. The noise of the rain on the…
